The East Palo Alto Family YMCA
The Lewis and Joan Platt East Palo Alto Family YMCA is a vibrant Community Center where a rich diversity of youth, teens and families come together to build spirit, mind and body. After 19 years of outreach service to the community through programs such as basketball, aquatics, soccer, summer camps, junior golf, after-school, teen leadership and mentoring, the doors of the new East Palo Alto Family YMCA facility opened in February of 2007. Today, more than 2,000 members – 90% of whom are residents of East Palo Alto – belong to their very own YMCA.
The YMCA believes that every child deserves the chance to build their self-esteem and a healthy heart in a safe and caring environment. To ensure accessibility to all, the East Palo Alto Family YMCA offers a unique income-based pricing structure for its programs and membership, charging fees on a sliding scale of household income. To that end, the East Palo Alto Family YMCA will provide more than $600,000 in membership and program subsidies and scholarships in 2008 alone – supporting 92% of members with a significant form of financial assistance.
This is made possible only by the tremendous generosity of and investment from our community. 100% of every dollar invested by the Olympic Club Foundation and your participation in this tournament, goes directly into this support. Together we are changing lives. One child at a time.
